Lumos ‘Be The Light’ T-Shirt

“Eight million voiceless children are currently suffering globally under a system that, according to all credible research, is indefensible. We owe them far, far better. We owe them families.” – J.K. Rowling

A few weeks ago Lumos, a charity founded by J.K. Rowling, announced that they had designed a limited edition t-shirt to raise money for the charity. Lumos’ goal is to “create a world where all children have the families they need and the futures they deserve”. The t-shirt was $28.99 and 60% of the retail price went to the charity, helping children with no families all across the globe. On the t-shirt it says ‘We do not need magic to transform our world; we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already’. They sold 19,875 t-shirts, which is an amazing amount of money raised!

As you can already tell from the pictures, I brought one of these t-shirts. I am so glad to donate my money to such a great cause and to help children with no families across the globe. To think of a child that doesn’t have a family is a horrible thought. Your family is your first part of socialisation and are there for when you need comforting and advice. I’m very close to my family and even thinking about not being with them is the most terrible thing I have ever thought of. So I want to be a part of Lumos and help children who don’t have families, find a family.

You can help too by donating to the charity. Unfortunately the t-shirts were limited edition so you won’t be able to buy them but you can buy The Tales of Beedle The Bard or Very Good Lives, both written by J.K. Rowling, or buy the Lumos Harry Potter Charm Bracelets, which are from The Noble Collection, or you can just donate on the website.

Because children need families, not orphanages.

Thanks for reading!
